Bet on the English Rugby Super League Winner

The 2022 Super League is just around the corner, with the season starting on 10 February 2022 and running all the way to the Grand Final on 24 September 2022. There are twelve teams who will be competing and the bookies think there are lots of them that can become potential champions, although it’s the Super League holders who head the market.

Can St Helens Retain Super League Crown in 2022?

St Helens wound up with sixteen wins from their twenty-one games played during the regular season, with Kristian Woolf then engineering a success in the eliminators. They were able to overcome Leeds Rhinos in the semi-finals before a hard-fought victory over Catalans Dragons in the final where they triumphed 12-10.

There is little reason to doubt the Saints who have now been champions on the past three occasions. They beat the Salford Red Devils in 2019 by a convincing margin before that narrow low-scoring win over Wigan Warriors and another tight game against Catalan.

Will Warrington Win First Ever Super League Title?

Warrington Wolves have been the perennial bridesmaids in the Super League since its inception. The north-west side were runners-up to Wigan Warriors four seasons ago and the same thing happened two years previously when they finished top of the regular standings before being edged out by the same side in the final.

Last year saw Daryl Powell’s side finish third in the regular standings to find their way into the eliminators although they performed horribly when failing to score a single point when clashing with Hull Kingston Rovers. Perhaps they’ll avoid stage fright this time around.

Catalan Dragons Could Be a Big Price to Win Super League

Catalan could easily have been crowned champions last season and that will give them confidence this time around. The French side were superb during the regular season when landing nineteen victories in their twenty-three games and they looked like winners-elect for much of the campaign.

They were then able to topple Hull Kingston Rovers and there was so little between themselves and St Helens in the final. We should expect the Dragons to compete in the eliminator again and perhaps they’ll be able to draw on last season’s experiences.

Wigan are trading at a similar price and Leeds can’t be easily discounted, with five teams regarded as likely to be head and shoulders above the others, with customers able to bet on the Regular Season Winner and the Grand Final Winner.

Super League celebrated a big anniversary last season, with Super League XX the 20th edition of the competition. It turns 21 in 2016 and the excitement, drama and quality of rugby just keeps on improving, so we really should be in for a great year. Current Grand Final champions Leeds Rhinos will get Super League XXI underway on 4th February 2016 when they host Warrington Wolves. The Grand Final itself won’t take place until October but it’s never too early to get your ante post bets on. Our Grand Final preview brings you everything you need to have a bet on the 2016 Super League, from the best live odds comparison to our predictions and outright winner betting tips so read on for the lowdown on what promises to be a spectacular Super League season.

Back in October Leeds completed a fantastic treble by narrowly beating Wigan in the Old Trafford Grand Final to add that trophy to their Challenge Cup and League Leaders Shield successes. It was a huge occasion and a great day but we predict Leeds will struggle this season and the bookies agree. Leeds have a conveyor belt of youth talent and also the finances to bring in the best players but they lost two legends in the summer.

The hugely influential Jamie Peacock and Kylie Leuluai retired, whilst SPOTY-nominated Rhinos and England captain Kevin Sinfield switched codes to play union for Leeds-based Yorkshire Carnegie. Without those three players it’s hard to see Leeds going all the way yet again, especially as mustering the motivation to fight at full intensity is difficult when you have already won everything there is to win. The Rhinos are joint second favourites though, priced at best betting odds of 4/1 with Sky Bet.

Also at that price are St Helens, and we fancy that 4/1 (with Unibet) is a very attractive price for the side that Leeds beat in last year’s semi. Saints ended the regular season second, just a point behind Leeds and only a poor showing in the Super 8’s has prevented their odds from being shorter we feel. They have so many top players in the peak of their careers and Head Coach Keiron Cunningham knows plenty about winning. They came so close to beating the Rhinos last season, in both the regular season and the semi-final and at good odds we predict they are excellent value in the outright betting.

They are, however, not the favourites for the Super League Grand Final in 2016. Wigan, beaten finalists in 2015, are narrowly favoured by the odds men. The Warriors are on offer at odds of 3/1 with BetVictor and having gone so close in Grand Final XX there are sure to be many punters predicting they will go one better. However, we fancy they are just a shade short and they could suffer something of a hangover from the manner of their defeat at Old Trafford against the Rhinos.

The fact that Wigan top the outright betting at odds of 3/1, but fourth favourites Warrington (who we feel will once more come up short) are available at best odds of just 7/1 (with Coral), indicates what a close affair Super League XXI should be. That said, our money is on super Saints, so get on now before those outright odds start to fall.
