2020 Nippon Professional Baseball Betting Odds
While the Major League Baseball in the US and Canada is the biggest baseball competition in the world, Japan has a thriving scene when it comes to this sport and the leading professional teams in this country battle it out in the Nippon Professional Baseball every season.
The regular season is split into a Central League where you have teams such as Yomiuri Giants, Tokyo Yakult Swallows, Hanshin Tigers, Yokohama DeNA BayStars, Hiroshima Toyo Carp and Chunichi Dragons competing, while there is also a Pacific League where Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, Seibu Lions, Chiba Lotte Marines, Orix Buffaloes and Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters are among the teams.
When Does the 2020 Nippon Professional Baseball Start and End?
The 2020 Nippon Professional Baseball season was originally scheduled to begin on 12 March although this start date coincided with the outbreak of COVID-19 and the global pandemic led to the campaign being postponed until further notice.
Now the Nippon Professional Baseball season is back up and running, with the start date of June 19 passing successfully and there are set to be 120 games being played between 19 June and 7 November by which point we will find out who has been crowned champions of Japanese baseball.
The Central League and Pacific League will be played out before the leading teams go through to a play-off series at the end of the season.
Who are the Best Nippon Professional Baseball Teams?
The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks were the champions in 2019 after beating Yomiuri Giants in the Japan Series and it’s possible that it could be these teams competing again this season. Normally an award goes to Central League Pennant, Pacific League Pennant, Climax Series Winner and Japan Series Winner although the latter is the most prestigious of all.
You can bet on every Japanese NPB match, with the Money Line, Run Line and Total being the most attractive betting markets. The Money Line is effectively like betting on the Match Winner and there’s the opportunity to combine different teams in your baseball parlay in order to get the biggest odds possible.
Alternatively, the Total is great for those customers who want to bet on the total number of runs being scored during a match and it’s a simple case of betting Over or Under a certain amount on the two-way betting market.
The Run Line is a bit like handicap betting where you might back Team A +1.5 or Team B -1.5 and this is a great betting market if you find the Money Line betting market somewhat uncompetitive.
