The County Championship is the premier first class cricket competition in England and Wales and is contested by 18 teams that are named after historic counties (17 from England, one from Wales). We have all the latest betting odds for all the big County Championship games and the outright winner markets, and we compare the prices from the best bookmakers around to make sure you get the best value every time. So always check the odds right here before placing your cricket bets.
Split into two divisions (each of nine teams), Division One and Division Two, most of the betting on the County Championship takes place on Division One matches, that is those between the better sides in English cricket. Each side plays the other eight teams in their division twice in a season (which runs from early April to late September), home and away, and each match – weather permitting – lasts up to four days.
As such there are plenty of opportunities to bet in-play on County Championship games as often they swing from one team to the other and odds can fluctuate a lot. Given the length of the matches it also gives punters the chance to lay off bets to lock in a profit or cut losses using one of the betting exchanges.
When picking your bets for individual matches, as well as studying the form of each team (and checking our betting odds comparison service to get the best value) it is always a good idea to check the weather forecast as – unlike many sports – cricket and rain just does not mix. If it rains, play is stopped; if it doesn’t stop raining, matches can be abandoned and declared a draw. So don’t let the weather spoil your bets!
