The early results of the 2024 Argentine Primera División suggest that we might have plenty of teams involved in the title race, with Huracan the early pace-setters, although the bookies still think that they’re the outsiders. The same applies to Union Santa Fe, with these teams potentially keeping the top spot warm for some of the more major contenders.
River Plate opened the campaign with a mixed bag of results, although there’s no doubting their pedigree and they remain the leading contenders. Marcelo Gallardo boasts an excellent track record and will look to enjoy more success with a team who are accustomed to winning Argentine league titles.
Racing Club made a positive start to the season by winning five of their opening nine matches, with Gustavo Costas overseeing a team who will be looking for a marked improvement on a twelfth-placed finish last term. Boca Juniors were only able to win three of their first nine games although they also have the potential to go well.
Diego Martinez saw this side finish seventh last term, with Talleres also looking like a team that is tough to beat and they lost just one of their first nine encounters, with Walter Ribonetto having seen his team finish second last time out. Estudiantes are also another side to be respected and they have a tough defence.
