The Belgian Pro League, often referred to as the Jupiler League, with Jupiler being the chief sponsor, is the top flight of Belgian football. Belgian football hasn’t always been of that much interest to many football betting fans but with the Premier League packed full of Belgian stars and the national side ranked number one in the world, Belgian football is on a real high at the moment. Watching the Pro League gives you a chance to see the next crop of great players before they really hit the big time and if you’re watching, you may as well have a bet (that’s our motto anyway!).

If you do want to have a bet on the Pro League, be that the outright winner market for the title itself, or indeed the various matches along the way, our live betting odds comparison is the quickest and easiest way to access the best odds. With just a few clicks you can see which bookie has the biggest odds and head straight there, perhaps claiming a free bet too if you’re new to the site.

Alternatively just read on for our predictions and betting tips for the outright title betting as we pick our way through the Pro League to dish up some great bets that should keep you interested right through until spring.

At the time of writing the bookies are predicting a three-horse race for the Pro League between Anderlecht, Gent and Brugge, with those three priced at odds of 5/4 (Ladbrokes), 2/1 (BetVictor) and 5/2 (Ladbrokes) respectively.

Gent lead the way after 17 games, with 36 points, with Brugge on 34, Oostende (priced at odds of 10/1) on 34 too and Anderlecht on 32. Anderlecht are the most successful side in Belgian football, having won the title 33 times. The favourites for the title this term have only played 16 games and so a win would move them second as they seek to regain the title they lost to Gent last term. Prior to that they had won three Pro Leagues in a row and it’s clear they have the experience, class and know-how to go very close this term.

Second favourites Gent, who won the Pro League last term, will appeal to some punters but we predict they will come up short this time around. Winning the title is one thing but defending it is another and though they have started well their outright odds are too short to tempt us. Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s men have done very well in Champions League Group H and will at least qualify for the Europa League but that guarantee of prolonged continental involvement isn’t going to help them domestically and as such we don’t think they will quite have the depth of squad to defend their Pro League title.

Brugge, third favourites in the outright winner betting, have struggled in Europa League Group D and need to win at Midtjylland, the side above them, in order to progress. That looks beyond them and although they have been superb at home domestically, their awful record on the road will, we feel, ultimately rule them out of a serious title challenge.

Logically then this leaves favourites as Anderlecht as our firm, if somewhat uninspired, betting tip for Pro League glory this term. They head the outright betting for good reason and odds of 5/4 look decent value, with their strong defence and organisation providing a great foundation for their attacking players. They look set to eliminate Monaco from the Europa League and whilst that competition will test their squad, they should have the experience to come through the challenge and take the Pro League crown once again.
