PSG v Bayern Munich Betting Markets
Paris Saint-Germain were the worthy winners of the 2024/25 Champions League. Luis Enrique's team were too strong for all their opponents last season and perhaps the Ligue 1 side will once again lift the European Cup. They are trading as slight favourites to win this first leg clash at the Parc des Princes.
Some might argue that odds of 2.30 are too big about the French side. This gives PSG an implied probability of 44% and you might think that home advantage gives Paris a much stronger chance of winning. After all, they wiped the floor with Liverpool in the previous round and should have come out with a scoreline much bigger than the 2-0 victory.
Since losing 3-1 at home to Monaco, Luis Enrique's side have been in the winning groove. There was an 8-2 aggregate victory over Chelsea where Paris were able to flex their attacking muscle to claim a 5-2 success and register eight shots on target. They also won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge and you can be sure that the best players will be kept fresh for this one.
As for Bayern Munich, they don't lose many games. They haven't tasted a defeat since losing at home to Augsburg on 24 January. Since then, there have been fourteen victories and two draws across sixteen matches in all competitions. It should be noted that Vincent Kompany's side were able to win 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the previous round.
Goals from Luis Diaz and Harry Kane helped Bayern secure a victory in the first leg although they demonstrated vulnerability against the same opposition at the Allianz Arena. Real Madrid were able to work their way back into the tie and it was only a couple of late goals for the Bavarian side which sealed the deal.
Goals Under/Over
Over 2.5 Goals could be very likely. According to the Champions League betting sites, there's a 70% chance that there will be three or more scored at the Parc des Princes. It's certainly easy to see attacks outsmarting the defence for both sides. Bayern don't tend to have many low-scoring matches, especially in recent weeks.
Since playing out a 1-1 draw away to Bayer Leverkusen on 14 March, there have been six consecutive clashes where we've seen three or more goals scored. Only the 2-1 victory at the Bernabeu have seen three goals notched. The other clashes have involved four or more goals and there could be an argument to push for Over 3.5 Goals.
However, Paris Saint-Germain don't tend to have as many high-scoring encounters. The two games against Liverpool were both 2-0 victories. The previous five games saw Over 2.5 Goals cop and perhaps that's a safe option on the Bet Builder bet slip.
BTTS
It would come as a surprise if Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich both failed to score in this first leg encounter. It's a view reflected by the Champions League betting sites who are chalking up 1.40 when it comes to the BTTS Yes option. It has been eighteen consecutive matches where the French champions have found the net and they have a brilliant attack.
They also have home advantage and it would be some defensive effort for Bayern to snuff them out over ninety minutes. However, the German team won't be pitching up to defend. Vincent Kompany's team are aggressive on the press and will be hungry to gain an edge as they managed to do so at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bayern have scored in every football match that they've played this season. They generally don't just score in ones or twos either. We should note that they've already visited the Parc des Princes this season and there was a 2-1 victory in early November where they were able to claim a victory despite being reduced to ten men.
Despite having a red card on the stroke of half-time, Bayern still registered five shots on target and their opponents racked up nine efforts. We can expect both teams to play positive attacking football and it will be exciting to see how this is played out.
First Goalscorer
Luis Diaz scored two at the Parc des Princes in November. The Colombian ended up getting sent off in that 2-1 win although he has shown the ability to score on the big occasions. After all, it was the forward's goal that proved decisive in the second leg against Real Madrid and the player is bang in form.
Diaz also managed to score at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the player having twenty-six for the season. However, Harry Kane is the man who is firing on all cylinders and the player now has fifty-five goals in all competitions. At the time of writing, the England captain has been on the scoresheet in eleven of the past twelve clashes.
The clash away to PSG was one in which Kane failed to score. However, his side were reduced to ten men for half of the clash. Ousmane Dembele was injured in that match although the forward is now back and firing. He notched a brace against Toulouse and was then able to rack up two more goals at Anfield to send the quarter final tie beyond Liverpool.
